What is Hypnosis: Hypnosis is a state of relaxation and concentration at one with a state of heightened awareness induced by suggestion; it is a non-addictive power for good and a natural manifestation of the mind at work. It is a trance-like state and everybody has the ability to go into a trance. Every day people slip into natural trance states when they become absorbed in watching television, reading a book, daydreaming or driving their car when they suddenly realise that they have missed their exit. When we go to sleep at night the brain wave activity in that grey area just before actually falling off to sleep, is virtually identical to what it is in hypnosis. If you awake naturally in the morning you will find that you’ll come through that same brain wave activity again, so certainly we are not asking your mind to go somewhere it has not gone before.

The subconscious, on the other hand, is 90% of the mind and is the seat of our emotions and feelings, intuition, imagination and creativity. It contains our automatic body functions, our habits and our permanent memory. It has recorded everything that has ever happened to us. It has no reasoning ability and accepts everything it receives as fact. It is also the goal-achieving mind.
The reason hypnosis is so powerful in helping you to achieve your goals is that with hypnosis we can bypass your conscious mind which produces all of your analytical, self-limiting doubts and negative thoughts, we can then gain access to your subconscious mind and therapy at a subconscious level can commence.
When we gain access to your subconscious, we can work with your imagination, emotions and permanent memory to help you achieve the goals you have come seeking help for. It is extremely important to enlist the power of your imagination when aiming to achieve a goal because when the imagination and the will are in conflict, the imagination will usually win. (e.g. if you are using all of your will power to achieve something but you imagine yourself failing – conflict).
